-----
This morning my mother
Asked me if
I believe in good omens
She sent me a photo of her
Lightly wooded backyard
Where we tied our wrists in ribbon
Wiped tears from our cheeks
Underneath an archway
We kissed and made a vow
Overnight, a foot of snow fell
And the archway is no longer standing
On a day where
I signed for the two of us
Papers that told them
the home we used to own
Was no longer ours
on a day where
a symbolic gesture of endings
was coupled with
a physical act of nature
this is over now
Mother nature declared it.
