I should write a life update, dear blog. The trouble is, I don't know where to begin. My last post was in 2013. Many events have happened since then. Some have been lovely, some have been tragic. I'm not ready for a long-form essay quite yet. But know I will be periodically updating with poetry until my writing wheels slowly start up again.
For now, a poem I wrote last spring.
//
During a pale March,
we found solace in shallow basements,
corners of coffee shops, angles
of our bodies
I found, through my meticulous mind
and wandering hands,
that you had made your back to my
Genesis
I wonder if the mountains
reminded you of me
If their beauty,
their destructive tendencies,
their violent silence,
can tell our story
gradual and more
patient
than I can
This time,
I will sink my eyes into
the nothingness that lies eastward
I'll reconsider your city sacred
Clench my jaw, embrace the wind
off the water
I am beginning to scrape the last cells of
your memory off my skin
Soon,
my body will forget you.
